Are you looking for a challenging and exciting job at the interface between science and society? A current project of the Swiss Young Academy focuses on innovative teaching formats that engage students with societal partners outside the classroom, using diverse approaches such as knowledge co-creation, service learning, arts-based methods, and multimedia outputs. For this project under the direction of Dr. Marion Badi (Helbling Technik Bern AG), Dr. Benjamin Hofmann (TdLab, ETH Zürich), and Dr. Jiaxin Duan (Paul Scherrer Institut PSI), we are looking for a project assistant.
Tasks
In this exciting position you will support the project group “Innovative teaching formats at the science-society interface” of the Swiss Young Academy. This position includes the following tasks in particular:
Conduct desk research and interviews to map stakeholders of science-society teaching formats at Higher Education Institutions (universities and universities of applied sciences) in Switzerland
Support the curation and editing of contributions to a digital collection of science-society teaching tools, in collaboration with the Network for Transdisciplinary Research (td-net)
Organize and prepare two workshops for networking of lecturers involved in science-society teaching and for strategic dialogue in Swiss Higher Education, incl. liaising with stakeholders
Prepare communication and outreach material on project results (website material, social media, etc.)
Provide general support to the project group in organizational and administrative matters
Competencies
Master’s degree or advanced Master’s student from any discipline
Excellent English language skills, very good German and French language skills are an asset
Experience in workshop/event organization and/or project management
Experience in interviewing, prior knowledge of stakeholder mapping being an asset
Interest in teaching and science-society relations, prior knowledge being an asset
Good workflow, organizational, and social skills
Openness, reliability, structured way of working, and clear expression
Own computer with internet access
Conditions of employment
Starting date: from February 15, 2026 or by arrangement
Duration: Until December 2026 with a total of 270 work hours
Hourly wage employment (ca. 6 hours per week) with flexible working hours
Workplace: option to work from home
